Scott makes it 2 out of 2 as a pro

(Scott locks in a tight guillotine for the finish, photo credit: Brett King)

On Saturday 28th April, the Contenders promotion returned for ‘Contenders 23’ live from Epic Studios in Norwich for an 11 fight card consisting of Boxing, K1 and Mixed Martial Arts. In the main event of the evening, long time Team UFO sponsored athlete and Professional Lightweight Mixed Martial Artist ‘Super’ Scott Butters took on tough Frenchman Jonathan Templier. Scott, from Dereham, was looking to make it 2 wins out of 2 as a pro, having stopped Yohan Salvador via TKO in the first round in his debut back in November.

From the first bell it was evident that Templier, a five fight veteran, had come to spoil the party, opening with a series of powerful low kicks. Scott persevered and answered with a powerful left hook which appeared to stun the Frenchman momentarily. Scott continued to push the pace and, having absorbed a number of elbows in the clinch, Templier appeared to recognise the shift in momentum and attempted to switch up his attack with a takedown attempt. Scott, a noted grappler, avoided well and took advantage of his opponent’s mistakes to sink in a deep guillotine choke, to which Templier was forced to tap in a matter of seconds.

Now sporting a record of 2-0, both finishes in the first round, it won’t be long before the bigger national and international promotions take note.

Scott’s Second Pro Fight

Following his successful pro debut last year, Lightweight MMA fighter and Team UFO Athlete ‘Super’ Scott Butters returns to the cage on Saturday 28th April at Contenders 23 at Epic Studios Norwich for his second pro bout. Following a successful career as an amateur, Dereham-based Scott took the step up to the pro ranks in November 2017. Despite what would seem a daunting occasion, Scott put on a career-best performance, stopping tough Frenchman Yohan Salvador in the first round. The opponent for Scott’s second pro outing also hails from France, in the form of Jonathan Templier. The later may have considerably more pro experience, but Scott won’t be phased, having already fought and beaten some of the countries best amateurs, and will surely come through this tough test with yet another impressive performance. All the best Scott!

Muay Thai Seminar with Chris Carley

One of the best trainers in Muay Thai might be an understatement, Chris Carley is one of the best around. Chris has trained over 20 British Champions and 40 World Champions as well as some of the best on the MMA circuit. On the 23rd February Norwich fighters were blessed with the chance to train with him and get an insight into the world of Muay Thai. With UFO  present it was very interesting to watch one of the best at work. Hopefully we will be able to take part in this again.

Thanks Chris
